According to the Ministry of Education an estimated 200,000 Kenyan children in the year 2011, were unable to transit from primary school to secondary school due to poverty related problems. Your 'small act' can make a difference.

Scholarships are the core of what HBEF does. For $2,600, which provides a four-year scholarship, the opportunities in a student’s life can be transformed by enabling them to continue their secondary school education. HBEF works to ensure that bright but financially disadvantaged students are selected based on their scores in the Kenyan Certificate of Primary Education and their commitment to working hard towards their dreams.

Our sponsor-to-child programme links you directly with a child making it possible to communicate through exchange of letters, as well as receive regular updates on the child's academic performance. Every school year comprises of three terms and at the end of every term, you get to receive the child’s report card as well as a letter from your child.

The academic year in Kenya starts in January and all scholarships are awarded to incoming first-year secondary students at this time.
